Mont-Louis,

World heritage site

Built ex-nihilo between 1679 and 1681 to hold the strategic bolt at the crossroad of Conflent, Capcir and Cerdagne valleys, the fortificated city of Mont-Louis is a member of twelve sites created by Vauban and registred on the Unesco world heritage list since 2008.
This international gratitude is the translation of the exceptional character of the environment in wich the Centre National d'Entraînement Commando-1er Choc (CNEC : commando national training center) evolves since 1964. Moreover, it is one of the last military units to occupy a place conceived by Vauban, that makes it an actor of this dynamic.
